News & Record reports the cuts may include:
- 64 media assistants from all levels
- 11 from computer tech
- 7.5 English as a second or other language from the elementary school level
- 7.5 testing coordinators at the high school level
Green says "the cuts will be made only if state funding is as bad as expected."
Not good. This is going to be a nasty budget.

Perhaps in lieu of getting rid of so many staff position they should consider dropping some of the poor PROGRAMS they have since they indicated in the LEA Improvement Plan misalignment of programs. Lets start accessing the PBS program. Of the 29 schools that have it lets see if all of these schools have passed AYP. http://www.gcsnc.com/depts/pbs/schools.htm
LEA Improvement Plan Section II
Reasons the prior plan failed:
1. Insufficient focus on professional development of best instructional practices for the identified for subgroups.
2. Multiple initiatives offered lacked sufficient, alignment, commitment, and focus.
3. Inexperienced teachers and administrators in high impact schools.
4. High teacher turnover in high impact schools.
5. Misalignment of a variety of programs across the District.
6. Disconnection between School Improvement Plan and District initiatives.

We look forward to hearing how many schools with SMOD have passed AYP since our district has put it in so many schools.
As a staff member I do not see a difference.
