Work days may become furlough days

So I have to ask...where DOES the NCAE stand on Gov. Bev's outrageous furlough plan? Today's News & Record analyzes what may happen, including the theory that teachers may use work days as furlough days.

I guess the question I have is this...if Bev is requiring all state employees to take unpaid days off and give up salary, will she be the first one to do so?

Anyone?

NO!!! She's not cutting anything away from herself or her friends. However, let's say she "did" cut her salary by simply 200.00 a month. If we apply that same cut to new teachers, teachers under 5 years with only a B.A. and assistants, there is no way they can live on the same salary.

How in the world did we get to this?!?! Cut teacher's salaries, cut educational resources but expect high quality education and results equals to what?
