Assault Allegation at Kiser

GCS and Greensboro Police officials are investigating an assault allegation from a GCS school bus driver from Kiser Middle School. Today's N&R reports a veteran bus driver resigned yesterday following accusations that the driver assaulted two students on her bus route.

N&R:

Police said the incident happened about 3 p.m. on the bus "as it was leaving Kiser Middle School," according to Capt. Anita Holder of the Greensboro Police Department.

The school's student resource officer is investigating. No official charges have been filed, Holder said.

Holder said police are in the process of reviewing statements and other evidence, and they expect to determine whether to file charges on Monday.

Police would not comment Friday on the exact nature of the assault allegations because of the ongoing investigation.

"We are wanting to make sure we do a thorough investigation," Holder said.

A Connect-Ed telephone message alerted parents in the Kiser school district of the incident Friday and stated that the bus driver had been arrested and charged with assaulting two students. The message also noted that the driver is no longer employed with the school system.

Officials could not immediately provide the bus number, and it was unclear whether the bus was equipped with a camera.
